Ms. Toni Myers

Antosia (Toni) Myers grew up in a small town in Michigan called Hastings. She attended Hastings High School where she participated in the marching band, jazz band, and jazz combo, as well as helping to start a percussion ensemble and steel drum band. Upon graduation she attended Central Michigan University where she was a Marching Chip, a member of the concert band, and a final member of the Robert Hohner Percussion Ensemble.

After the passing of Mr. Hohner, Miss Myers transferred to Alma College, to study with Dave Zerbe, where she participated in the Kilte Marching Band and the Alma College Percussion Ensemble. Miss Myers also helped to found the Hohner Institute of Percussion while at Alma, which is dedicated to spreading Mr. Hohner’s love of music to young students. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Instrumental Music Education in 2005.

In the summer of 2005, Miss Myers moved to Oklahoma to study with Dr. David Steffens at Oklahoma City University. She participated in the Wind Philharmonic, the OCU Orchestra, Jazz Combo, and the OCU Percussion Ensemble, and had the opportunity to work with composer David Maslanka during the Oklahoma PAS Convention. She graduated with her Masters degree in Music Performance in 2007.

Throughout her college education, Miss Myers has taught over 50 different lesson students and worked over 10 various schools' band camps and drumlines. She has been determined to pay back students for the great education she received over the years from all her directors and percussion teacher John Gage. 2011-12 is Ms. Myers' 4th year at Piedmont on a full-time basis after teaching here part time for 3 years.
